Fire crews struggle to contain Carpenter One Fire

UPDATE at 1 P.M.: Since this story was posted, the BLM has sent out an update. The fire is 1,125 acres in size.
For public health and safety, the following closures are in place: Trout Canyon Road at Highway 160, Griffith Peak Trail, South Loop Trail, and the North Loop Trail at its’ junction with Trail Canyon. All access to Charleston Peak is closed at this time.
Open and active: The Trout Canyon Community is currently in a voluntary evacuation status. The Trout Canyon Community contains 21 homes and resources are in place for structure protection.
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Fire crews are still struggling to fight the Carpenter One fire near Pahrump. So far about 1,950-acres of land have burned.
A chopper is dumping water and a plane is spraying the flames with fire retardant.
It is not safe yet for firefighters to attack the rugged area.
Carpenter Canyon is between Pahrump and Las Vegas.
The fire has been burning since Monday after a lightning strike.
There is a small community about a little more than a mile from the flames. Some residents have already evacuated. Others are getting ready just in case.
