Two people infected with West Nile virus in Clark County
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two people in Clark County have been infected by the West Nile virus, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.
One of the victims is a 60-year-old woman who is currently hospitalized with the more serious neuroinvasive form of the illness.
The other victim is a 70-year-old man who has the less serious form of the illness.
These are the first two cases to be reported in 2013.
Last year, the health district reported 8 people who had been infected. One person died from the illness.
16 cases were reported in 2011, 11 of which were in Clark County. There were no cases reported in 2010.
The health district reported Tuesday that infected mosquitoes had been found in Henderson.
Residents of Clark County are urged to take precautions.
