Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One of the Valley's largest employers is taking another giant step toward green.
MGM Resorts International announced plans to install a 6.2 megawatt rooftop solar power array on the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Operations could start next year.
Senator Harry Reid was on hand and talked with Action News about something else coming our way: Radioactive uranium.
It's part of a plan to dispose of old reactor fuel, but Reid isn't convinced.
"The initial reports I got from this is that basically it was not a safety hazard and we had an independent study done, and that's why Sandoval and I agreed that it shouldn't be done, because at this stage it has not proven to be safe," said Reid.
Reid also talked about the Express West Project.
He said plans for the high speed rail line between Las Vegas and California are still on track, but the hold up is financing.
