Henderson man arrested for allegedly killing his father

CREATED Jul. 2, 2013

Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A 21-year-old Henderson man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the apparent stabbing death of his father in their Henderson home.

Frank H. Nichols III was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on Tuesday on a murder charge after he was treated at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals (Siena Campus) for minor injuries sustained in the fight with his father.

Nichols called 911 around 11 a.m. saying someone had assaulted his father inside the home in the 900 block of Ambusher Street, near Stephanie Street and Patrick Lane.

When officers arrived, the man was found dead inside the home.

Nichols said he was in the backyard when he heard yelling coming from inside the house. When he entered the home, he saw a man dressed in black running out the front door.

He said he pursued the person but could not catch him. Officers searched the area and found no one.

It was apparent early in the investigation that the intruder story Nichols told was not supported by the evidence. He later told detectives he got into an argument with his father and then stabbed him.

The victim's name has not been released.

This case was the third murder in Henderson this year.
