Many locals appear to be staying safe in excessive heat

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Despite Saturday's excessive heat, locals weren't afraid to step outside.

Callville Bay at Lake Mead was packed with boaters, who were well-prepared with plenty of water and sunscreen.

"The water just cools you off and it feels great," said Jessica Stringari.

The new Wet 'n' Wild Las Vegas water park on the southwest side of the Valley was busy, but far from reaching full-capacity.

"It's okay out. All you have to do is jump back into the water and cool off," said visitor Rosemary Crenshaw.

As a safety precaution, the park is allowing visitors to bring in their own water and their own shade.

They currently have six emergency medical technicians staffed and all park lifeguards are CPR and first-aid certified.
