No verdict reached yet in hepatitis C doctor trial
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The jury in the Dipak Desai trial has gone home without reaching a verdict after a full day of deliberations.
The prosecution and defense presented their closing arguments on Thursday. The jury began deliberations Friday morning.
The jury will decide whether Desai and an employee are guilty of murder, patient neglect, insurance fraud, theft and other charges.
Several people became infected in 2007 after being tested at Desai's clinic.
77-year-old Rodolfo Meana died after becoming infected during a colonoscopy.
Nurse anesthetist Ronald Lakeman is facing the same charges as Desai.
Both defendants pled not guilty to the charges.
