Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- What do the historic Supreme Court rulings on gay rights mean for people living in Nevada?
Gay couples can now share federal benefits with their partners.
That is the result of the Supreme Court finding part of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional.
There is still a state constitutional ban on gay marriage in Nevada. Similar bans exist in most states in the country.
The Supreme Court's ruling on gay marriage only applies to California where Prop 8, the ban on same sex marriage, was overturned.
Speaker of the House John Boehner along with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints spoke out against the Supreme Court's ruling.
