Cooling stations staying open through Wednesday

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- As temperatures are expected to continue reaching extreme temps in the upcoming days, cooling stations will remain open to the public through Wednesday, July 3, in an effort to move the homeless and other individuals out of the heat and keep them hydrated.

The cooling stations are in addition to the Southern Nevada Regional Coalition's Inclement Weather Shelter Program, which provides daytime shelter every day during the summer at the following locations:

  • Catholic Charities: 1511 North Las Vegas Boulevard, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (for men only)
  • The Salvation Army: 31 West Owens Avenue, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (for adults only)
  • The Shade Tree: 1 West Owens Avenue, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (for women and children only)

The following locations will be open as cooling stations for some or all of the next few days:

  • Black Mountain Recreation Center: 599 Greenway Road, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 1-5 p.m. Sunday
  • Cambridge Recreation Center: 3930 Cambridge Street, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
  • Dula Gymnasium: 441 East Bonanza Road, 9 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
  • Hollywood Recreation Center: 1650 South Hollywood Boulevard, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday; 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday
  • Islamic Society of Nevada: 4730 East Desert Inn Road, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Sunday
  • Pearson Community Center: 1625 West Carey Avenue, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Friday; 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday
  • Reconciliation Apostolic Ministries: 1401 North Decatur Boulevard, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday
  • Stupak Community Center: 251 West Boston Avenue, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Friday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
  • Valley View Recreation Center: 500 Harris Street, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Saturday
  • Walnut Recreation Center: 3075 North Walnut Avenue, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
  • Colorado River Food Bank, 240 Laughlin Civic Center Drive, Laughlin, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Richard Springston American Legion Building, 1510 Bruce Woodbury Drive, Laughlin, 10 p.m. to 6 p.m.
