Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Friday night was the first night of the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Although traffic flowed fairly smoothly, at times it was backed up on the interstate to Lake Mead Boulevard.
Some attendees told Action News that even though they knew they would have a long night ahead, they left their homes or hotels early to avoid being stuck in traffic.
More than 110,000 people were expected to attend the first night of the three-day event.
Last year's EDC brought it more than $200 million to the local economy but the event was not without a few hicckups.
High winds forced organizers to shut the festivities down completely on the second night and a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed after leaving the concert.
In all, there were approximately 500 medical calls, mostly heat related, and 53 arrests involving narcotics in 2012.
This year's event cost more than $35 million to produce according to the founder.
More than 500 performers total will be featured at EDC 2013, including all of the top names in electronic dance music.
Organizers want all of the party-goers to have a good time but there are a few things to keep in mind.
Once inside, there is no exit. If a person leaves, they can not get back in.
Also, there is no day time parking. All vehicles will be towed.
In addition, there is no sitting on designated dance floors, no crowd surfing and no moshing.
Attendees can take in small bags -- single compartment backpacks or purses. The official reusable EDC alumnium water bottle, cellphones and other small items are also allowed.
Getting to EDC this year may be easier this year because there are a couple of different options.
Shuttles are picking up party-goers at various points on the Strip and there are more taxi cabs running this year than the previous two years.
More than 35,0000 shuttle bus tickets were sold this year.
Early this morning, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released the following stats fom Day 1:
