Vice President Biden delivers positive message to mayors

CREATED Jun. 21, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Vice President Joe Biden addressed the nation's mayors today at a conference at Mandalay Bay.

Biden became cheerleader in chief today for the mayors who traveled to Las Vegas from around the country to attend the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

While he addressed familiar topics like background checks and immigration, he emphasized our cities are the driving force of the country.

Biden delivered the pep talk to more than 200 city mayors.

Biden also emphasized ongoing improvements in transportation and infrastructure.

As the conference host, Mayor Carolyn Goodman says the topic really hit home for many fellow mayors.

While Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen says his city isn't out of the recession woods yet, the vice president's positive message today did make an impact.

While the vice president heads back to Washington, the mayors will spend the next three days at the conference considering more than 100 resolutions including foreclosures, unemployment rates and state marijuana laws.
