Search underway for missing Chicago man at Lake Mead
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The National Park Service is searching for a 35-year-old man from Chicago after he went missing Thursday at Lake Mead.
He was last seen in the water near Sentinel Island in the Boulder Basin.
A call was received at 4:19 p.m. reporting that he had disappeared in the water. Witnesses say he jumped into the water and began to struggle. He was not wearing a life jacket.
Efforts to find the man had to be suspended at about 6:30 p.m. due to unsafe weather conditions.
The National Park Service and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Search and Rescue began searching again early Friday morning.
