Construction wood fire causes heavy smoke in Las Vegas

CREATED Jun. 19, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Fire officials believe a grass fire started a large pile of wood sheeting on fire in a construction lot in the western part of Las Vegas.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Bonanza Road at Clarkway Drive.

When crews arrived, they found two large piles of wood sheeting on fire. The sheeting was tightly packed and fire appeared to be burning in between each sheet. To put the fire completely out, each sheet had to be removed.

The owner of the property said the wood was used to make concrete forms used for highway projects such as barrier walls.

There were no injuries reported.
