Henderson community comes together for crash victim's family
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- The Henderson community is rallying around the family of a young woman killed in a horrible car crash.
Erika Funtila, 23, was killed when the pick-up truck she was driving swiped a tow truck on the shoulder and then went out of control. Two other people were injured in the crash, but are expected to be okay.
It happened Thursday on U.S. Highway 95 near Horizon Ridge Parkway.
Erika's family wishes they knew what caused Erika to hit the tow truck. But instead of dwelling on how she died, they're trying to focus on how she lived -- with so much love.
On Tuesday night, friends organized a benefit at a Buffalo Wild Wings to raise money for funeral expenses and to share memories of Erika.
Erika leaves behind three brothers and lots of nieces and nephews. She was also a youth group leader and a volleyball coach at Southeast Career Technical Academy.
The volleyball team is planning a special memorial ceremony to honor Erika.
