Murder suspect in North Las Vegas standoff in custody
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A standoff involving a murder suspect in North Las Vegas has ended after the suspect surrendered.
The standoff took place at an apartment on Sun Avenue near East Cheyenne Avenue and North Civic Center Drive.
According to officials, it all began at about 1:30 Friday afternoon when SWAT negotiators tried to establish contact with Eric Orduna.
Police were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Orduna but he resisted and barricaded himself inside of an apartment.
A criminal complaint received at Action News revealed that Orduna is a suspect in the murder of Abraham Mathews.
Another man, Jonathan Reyes, has already been arrested.
Las Vegas police said one person who was inside the apartment was released before Orduna's surrender and was cooperating with law enforcement.
It was believed that Orduna had weapons with him inside the apartment but no gunfire was exchanged.
Some of the people who were evacuated during the standoff went to an area recreation center.
