Officials: Arrest made after fire at Vegas church
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Fire officials say a person has been arrested after an overnight blaze damaged the entrance to a Las Vegas-area Baptist church.
Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Erik Newman tells The Associated Press that investigators think the man taken into custody early Friday had a dispute with someone at Nellis Baptist Church before the fire was discovered about 3 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
Newman says county and North Las Vegas firefighters quickly doused flames outside double doors of the structure at 4300 Las Vegas Boulevard North.
But officials say flames and smoke caused about $40,000 damage.
The suspect's name and the charge against him weren't immediately made public.
Newman says county fire investigators and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents are still at the scene.
