Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- You expect to pay for a zip line ride, kiosk items and everything else under the laser-lit canopy. But paying to walk on Fremont Street itself?
Visitor Rhea Lane is shocked to find out a downtown property plans to charge for that privilege, "Oh my. We wouldn't like that at all."
Beginning in July, the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino will begin charging guests an extra $5 per day to enjoy the Fremont Street Experience, even if they never step foot on it.
Local resident Brandi Arispuro is shocked, "It's another rip off for all the tourists. It's the same as a resort fee."
Golden Nugget managers insist it is not a resort fee, like the $25 a day many Las Vegas Strip properties charge to use amenities like salons and pools. They said the $5 per day charge is a Fremont Street Experience fee.
But don't be surprised if other downtown properties follow suit.
The Golden Nugget has 2,345 rooms. At $5 a pop, that adds up to nearly $12,000 per day.
