Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A mother and daughter, murdered in their own home, were laid to rest on Tuesday.
43-year-old Maria Flores and 17-year-old Elizabeth Gomez were shot and killed two weeks ago by a man who police said they trusted.
Saying goodbye was incredibly hard for family and friends of Maria and Elizabeth. They're still trying to make sense of what happened.
"It's just devastating. Such a wonderful person doesn't deserve to die like this. No one deserves to die like this," said one family friend.
The funeral was held at St. Anne Catholic Church on Maryland Parkway.
Investigators believe Maria's boyfriend, Manual Mata III, shot them before turning the gun on himself. Mata is at UMC, being treated for self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head.
Knowing he's alive makes getting closure from the funeral very difficult for the family of the victims.
"I don't know if you want to say it's closure, because it's really not closure. You still got this guy sitting there," said another family friend.
Mata is charged with two counts of murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder and battery.
