Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- June 11 is Crosswalk Safety Day in Henderson.
The reason for the event is to remind drivers that even though school is out for the summer, they should still watch for kids and adults in crosswalks around the valley.
The safety event was held near Panera Bread in The District.
Panera Bread, Prudential Realtors and Winder Farms have succeeded in getting almost 100% of their employees to sign Channel 13's Be Smart. Be Safe. Be Seen. pledge.
Attendees at the event included City of Henderson elected officials, the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department, representatives from Henderson's police, fire and public works department, and Look Out Kids About Board members.
"Being that it's the end of the school year, we have approximately 320,000 students who are out on the streets who normally aren't out on the streets at the times they're not usually out," said CCSD police officer Tom Rainey.
