Las Vegas residents should take precautions during extreme heat
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The extreme heat will continue through this weekend and Las Vegas residents should be aware of its dangers.
Today's high temperature is expected to be 105 in the Las Vegas valley.
There are a couple of things that you should think about doing if you are going to be outside.
1. Put on sunscreen
2. Bring plenty of water with you because it is very easy to become dehydrated
3. Don't forget about your kids and pets.
It is very dangerous to leave both children and pets in cars at this time of year. In addition, if your animal is outside, make sure it has plenty of shade and drinking water.
Also, don't forget that this heat can take a toll on your vehicle.
According to one local mechanic, you should check your fluids in your vehicle on a regular basis -- at least once a week.
Cooling stations have also been set up across the valley for those who do not have easy access to shelter.
A list of them can be found here.
