Multi-state hepatitis A outbreak expands

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two additional western states have been added to the hepatitis A outbreak, linked to Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend of Berries sold by Costco.

According to the CDC and the FDA, Utah and Hawaii are now being added to the previously identified states of Nevada, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.

As of Wednesday morning, six cases of hepatitis A have been associated with the tainted berry mix in Nevada.

Nationally, more than 60 cases have been identified.

Hepatitis A is a viral illness that attacks the liver. Symptoms commonly include mild fever, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, pain in the upper right side of the abdomen, dark urine and jaundice (yellow eyes or skin).
