School board re-votes on appointment of school superintendent

CREATED Jun. 4, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The man who has been working as superintendent of the Clark County School District has been selected once again for the job.

The Clark County School Board voted unanimously to name interim superintendent Pat Skorkowsky to the post.

This happened after the board had to re-vote because a complaint was filed with the Nevada Attorney General's Office.

The complaint alleged that the school district broke the state's open meeting law on May 21 by holding a surprise interview and appointing Skorkowsky without proper notice given on the agenda.

The man that filed the complaint spoke at a special meeting of the school board on Monday night.

His complaint led to a state investigation into the school board's actions.

School board members insist that they did not do anything wrong but decided to vote again as a courtesy to make sure everyone felt comfortable.

Now, no matter what the attorney general's office finds, they have assured that Skorkowsky's appointment will stand.

School Board President Carolyn Edwards says it is time to move forward as a district.
