Free Fishing Day at Nevada State Parks on June 8
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- In celebration of National Get Outdoors Day on June 8, Nevada State Parks are waiving entrance fees and the need for a fishing license to encourage kids and families to explore the outdoors.
"In support of Free Fishing Day, all of our water-based parks are participating by giving free entrance to visitors for the day who show fishing poles at park entrances," said Dave Morrow, administrator for the Nevada Division of State Parks.
State parks with fishing opportunities include:
- Washoe Lake
- Sand Harbor and the Lake Tahoe Backcountry
- Rye Patch
- South Fork
- Wild Horse
- Cave Lake
- Spring Valley
- Echo Canyon
- Beaver Dam
- Big Bend of the Colorado
Nevada State Parks will also sponsor events such as stargazing, geo-caching, bird watching, evening campfire programs and guided hikes.
Events are listed here and park entrance fees may apply to some of the park programs.
In support of Nevada's annual Free Fishing Day, Clark County is offering free rentals of fishing equipment at Sunset Park on June 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The equipment will be available on a first-come first-serve basis at the County Parks and Recreation Department reservations building in Sunset Park.
