Court date set for man accused of killing teen during house party
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The man accused of killing a teenager during a house party on Jan. 15, 2012 will be back in court on July 11.
20-year-old Demetrius Black appeared in a Las Vegas courtroom this morning. Police say that a stray bullet fired by Black struck and killed 17-year-old Betty "Jay" Pinkney during a party.
The shooting happened after an argument broke out at the party in a house near Lamb Road and Alexander Boulevard.
Police say that Black fired multiple shots into the house during the confrontation.
Pinkney was not the only one shot. 32-year-old Karen Sinatra was also shot and survived.
Black was arrested 16 months after the shooting after he was connected to a gun believed to be used in the shooting.
He was already in jail on unrelated robbery charges at the time he was arrested for Pinkney's murder.
