9-year-old takes on McDonald's about health issues
Illinois (KTNV) -- Most kids can't wait to open their Happy Meal boxes and chow down on Chicken McNuggets or a burger, but not one little girl.
9-year-old Hannah Robertson put McDonald's CEO Don Thompson in the hot seat with some serious questions about just how healthy the food at the fast food joint really is.
Robertson cornered Thompson at the company's shareholder meeting in Illinois on Thursday. And she didn't go easy on him.
The 9-year-old asked him, "Don't you want kids to be healthy so they can live a long and healthy life?"
The little girl didn't stop there. She went on to ask Thompson if he thought it was fair that big companies try to trick kids into eating food.
But Thompson wasn't going down without a fight. He responded by saying McDonald's doesn't sell junk food. He pointed out the restaurant sells fruit, such as apple slices in children's meals.
The CEO thanked Robertson for her comments, and said he thinks it's great she wants kids to eat healthier.
Robertson's mother is a children's nutritional activist and creator of a game encouraging children to eat fruits and vegetables.
