Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel and Casino is bringing a new thrill ride to its property.
The VooDoo Zip Line will connect the two towers of the Rio. The ride will begin on the patio of the VooDoo Steakhouse, located on the 50th floor of the Masquerade Tower, and will propel riders at speeds of up to 33 miles per hour to the adjoining 20-story Ipanema Tower.
Guests will then make the return trip back to the starting point, traveling backwards at 20 miles per hour. The ride will cover one-third of a mile in one minute and 10 seconds.
Riders will be able to dine, gamble and enjoy the property while waiting for their reserved ride time. An alert will be sent to guests' cellphones when it is their turn.
Prior to the ride, all riders will receive a safety briefing to prevent injury and allow operators to answer questions.
The VooDoo Zip Line was originally expected to open this summer. However, it has just been announced that it will open in early November.
Only riders 21 years of age and older will be permitted to ride after 8:30 p.m. Tickets will cost $24.99 person from noon to 5:30 p.m. and $37 per person from 5:30 to midnight.
