Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Clark County School District has a new superintendent and he is a familiar face.
The purpose of the school board meeting on Tuesday night was to decide if the search for a new superintendent should stay local or go national.
But instead, the school board nominated and voted to put interim superintendent Pat Skorkowsky in the district's top office.
Skorkowsky has been with CCSD for more than 25 years, mostly as an administrator.
He has a reputation as being soft-spoken and some people wonder if he will be up to taking on the union in future negotiations.
Over the next few weeks, the district will be negotiating Skorkowsky's contract. He is expected to earn a hefty chunk of change, upwards of $250,000 a year.
That's less than his predecessor Dwight Jones.
Skorkowsky is in line for bonuses if he stays for the duration of his four-year contract.
