Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman in the northwest part of the Las Vegas valley.
Investigators arrived in the neighborhood near Buffalo and Craig after the woman's husband or boyfriend called to tell police she was injured. When police got to the home they found the woman dead inside.
"We are very preliminary into the investigation we're actually just getting started," Lt. Ray Steiber, Metro, said. "There are some circumstances that appear at face value to be suspicious and we are going to look into those circumstances."
Steiber wouldn't give details about why her death is suspicious, but homicide detectives haven't ruled out foul play or a home invasion.
Most of the area around the home is blocked off and residents are on edge seeing the police presence in their quiet neighborhood.
The community is gated with large homes and residents said there hasn't been any crime recently except for a few car break-ins.
"We want to know what happened in our quiet neighborhood," resident Deanna Hill said. "It's shocking to see this we're hoping it was nothing really serious but from what I've heard it's a serious loss of life."
Neighbors said the couple who lived in the home were middle-aged and friendly.
Police said they'd never been called to the home before.
Metro detectives later said the victim was an elderly woman who died of apparent blunt force trauma. Her identity has not been released.
