Florida community supporting 18-year-old girl arrested for sexual battery
(KTNV) -- A Florida community is rallying behind a teenage girl facing sexual battery charges for a consensual high school relationship.
Police say that 18-year-old Kaitlyn Hunt's girlfriend was not old enough to give consent to any sexual activity.
The 15-year-old's mother called police as soon as Hunt turned 18.
And that is why most people in the community are upset. Both girls were minors when their relationship began.
Hunt's mother says she had no idea her daughter's relationship would result in legal trouble.
Hunt was expelled from school after her arrest in February.
She is charged with lewd and lascivious battery of a child 12 to 16 years old.
