Local woman sent to Oklahoma to aid in tornado relief

CREATED May. 20, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local woman is on her way to Oklahoma City to aid in tornado relief efforts.

Jennifer Ramieh is a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She got the call Monday morning that she would be heading to the midwest to assist in response to Sunday's deadly tornado.

She was already in the air when Monday's tornado touched down.

As a Red Cross volunteer, she'll meet up with other volunteers from around the country to help victims obtain food and shelter.

"It's unfortunate the damage that this community has suffered," Jennifer said. "We're here to jump in and bring everybody together and make sure that people have a safe place to stay and we can help them get back on their feet."

Anyone wishing to donate to the Red Cross can do so online, by phone or by mail.
