Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police have arrested two people in connection with the death of a teenager following an iPad theft.
The incident happened on Thursday near Charleston and Torrey Pines.
Police said one of the suspects jumped out of a vehicle on Charleston and grabbed the iPad from 15-year-old Marcos Arenas.
Arenas held on and was pulled towards the vehicle. At that point, the driver hit the gas and Arenas was dragged. He fell and was struck by the vehicle. Arenas later died from his injuries.
18-year-old Jacob Dismont and 21-year-old Michael Samuel Solid, both of Las Vegas, have been arrested in connection with this crime.
"Through a tip that we received, we were able to take the information and confirm that it was Michael Solid that was the driver of that vehicle. As our investigation continued, we were able to determine that Jacob Dismont was with Michael Solid when this event occurred as well. It was Jacob Dismont we believe that was the one that robbed Marcos Arenas, ultimately leading to his death," explained Lt. Ray Steiber, Metro Police.
Dismont and Solid have both been booked into the Clark County Detention Center and have been charged with: Open murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
This is not the first time that Solid has been in trouble. Police say that he has been arrested in the past for possession of a stolen vehicle, petty larceny, robbery and assault.
Dismont does not have a prior record.
Both men will appear in court on Monday morning.
