Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police are looking for two men who ran over a juvenile after stealing his iPad.
Police got a call of trouble at West Charleston Boulevard and Scholl Drive, between Torrey Pines Drive and Rainbow Boulevard, just after 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
Initial reports indicated either an auto-pedestrian accident or an incident of road rage involving a woman. By nightfall they knew it wasn't an accident. It was a robbery.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, two men in a white SUV stopped in front of a group of kids gathered at a bus stop. The passenger jumped out, grabbed one boy's iPad and jumped back into the vehicle. The driver sped away, running over the boy who tried to snatch the iPad back.
Arturo Robles works at the Internet Cafe nearby. It's a hang out for kids who use the restaurant's free Wi-Fi.
Robles said, "That could have been my kid. Could have been anybody else's kid."
LVMPD said this is happening to more and more kids. Police are seeing an alarming increase in iPad thefts across the Valley.
Officer Bill Cassell said, "We've got a lot of people in custody for these thefts. We have been very concerned that at some point the level of violence was going to escalate and somebody was going to get hurt. It appears that now, unfortunately, it has come to fruition."
Police are looking for two men. The driver is described as a black male in his 20s, who was last seen wearing a black shirt.
The man who grabbed the iPad is described as a white adult male, 6-feet tall and weighing 150 to 180 pounds. He has a faded hairstyle and was last seen wearing a white tank top and black pants.
The vehicle is described as a white SUV, perhaps a Mitsubishi, last seen speeding west on Charleston.
The youngster who was hit while trying to get his iPad back, is in very critical condition at a local hospital.
