ABC talk show host Jimmy Kimmel to receive UNLV degree

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- ABC's talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will receive an honorary degree this weekend from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Kimmel is a native of Las Vegas and a former UNLV student.

Nearly 3,000 students will graduate on Sunday at the Thomas & Mack Center.

In addition, Samuel S. Lionel, partner and founder at the law firm of Lionel Sawyer & Collins, will also receive an honorary degree.

There are two commencement ceremonies -- one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Kimmel will receive his degree during the afternoon ceremony.

Past honorary graduates of UNLV include singer Frank Sinatra in 1976.

And Ronnie Vannucci, drummer for The Killers, graduated from UNLV in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
