O.J. Simpson scheduled to take stand Wednesday in Las Vegas

By Denise Wong. CREATED May 15, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- For the first time ever, O.J. Simpson is expected to take the stand Wednesday and testify before a judge.

The 65-year-old former pro football player will tell his side of the story in regards to what happened at a Las Vegas hotel that led to a prison sentence.

Simpson was convicted in 2008 of armed robbery and kidnapping. The conviction sent him to a prison in Lovelock, Nev., for a minimum of nine years.

Simpson and his new attorneys are trying to convince a judge that Simpson's former attorney, Yale Galanter, did shoddy work and never revealed a conflict of interest in that trial.

They also claim that Galanter never told Simpson about a possible plea deal that could have led to less time behind bars.

On Tuesday, former district attorney and prosecutor David Roger said that as far he knew, Galanter did tell Simpson about a possible offer but Simpson wasn't interested.

The hearing is scheduled to start Wednesday at 9 a.m. and Simpson is expected to take the stand almost immediately.

Simpson never took the stand after being accused of killing his ex-wife and her friend in the 1990s. He was acquitted during that murder trial.
