High court schedules oral arguments for dog accused of killing boy
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Nevada Supreme Court has scheduled oral arguments in the case of the dog that killed a baby in Henderson in April 2012.
Arguments have been scheduled to be heard at 11:30 a.m. July 3 in Carson City.
Onion, a 120-pound Mastiff/Rhodesian mix, killed the young child on his first birthday.
After the child died, the family gave up the dog and stated that they wished for him to be put down.
Since then, several animal activists groups have lobbied to save Onion from being put to death.
The New York-based Lexus Project rescue group also became involved and made arrangements for the Blue Lion Rescue Animal Sanctuary in Colorado to take Onion.
A lower court ruled the city of Henderson could euthanize Onion but the decision was appealed by the Lexus Project.
Onion is currently in residence at the Henderson Animal Control's facility.
