Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas 51s Minor League Baseball team has been purchased by the Summerlin Las Vegas Baseball Club.
The announcement was made Monday morning. The joint venture is comprised of the Howard Hughes Corp,. and Play Ball Owners Group. Investors include Steve Mack, Bart Wear and Chris Kaempfer.
The Triple-A baseball team currently affiliated with the New York Mets and has been based in Las Vegas for 30 years.
The new ownership group is exploring options to move the team from Cashman Field -- one of the oldest ballparks in the Pacific Coast League -- to a new ballpark inside the Summerlin master planned community.
The Howard Hughes Corp. is the landowner and master planner of Summerlin, which is comprised of 22,500 acres.
The potential site is located near the 215 Beltway and Charleston Boulevard.
