Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The El Cortez in downtown Las Vegas now has a special place on the nation's landscape.
Local leaders hosted a ceremony on Thursday in recognition of the El Cortez being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A plaque was also unveiled in honor of its historic status.
The El Cortez was built in 1941 and remodeled in 1952.
It's also one of the oldest properties along Fremont Street.
