Steven Brooks scheduled to appear in California courtroom
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Former Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks is due in a California courtroom today.
He is facing charges related to his arrest near Barstow after an argument with a tow truck driver and a high-speed chase on March 28.
The incident occurred just hours after he became the first assemblyman in Nevada history to be expelled from the legislature.
Brooks has pled not guilty to charges of evading an officer, resisting an officer, throwing an object from a moving vehicle, and assaulting a police animal.
If he is convicted of all four charges, he could face up to five years in prison.
Brooks will appear this morning in a courtroom in Victorville, Calif. He has been in jail since his arrest.
