Lakeland, FL (KTNV) -- A possible middle school murder plot was stopped in its tracks.
People in Lakeland, Florida are relieved police were on top of it before something bad happened.
A 13-year-old girl was arrested as the accused ring leader of the murder plot.
Apparently people at school found disturbing material in her notebook. Police searched her bedroom and found evidence of ideas about bomb-making and a fascination with mass murders like Sandy Hook and Columbine.
The girl's neighbor, Raymond Daunhauer, thinks she's a troubled person who let her imagination run away with her, "Nobody would help her, from what I was told. She went to counseling, went to the teachers, everybody ignored her. She made that idle threat, but it was the wrong threat to make in this day and age."
The girl's mother said she went peacefully and is defending her, saying she didn't do anything wrong except pick the wrong friends.
