Summer day shelter for homeless opens May 1

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Catholic Charities' summer day shelter will open May 1.

The summer day shelter can accommodate 100 homeless men at one time. The shelter will provide showers, bathroom facilities and cold drinking water.

A community meal is also provided free of charge in the St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility at 10 a.m.

The summer day shelter hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. It will close for the season on Sept. 30.

The night shelter accommodates 160 men and is open year-round from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., seven days a week.

Both shelters are located at the Donald W. Reynolds St. Vincent Plaza, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
