Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 53-year-old man has been arrested for first degree arson after an apartment fire Saturday morning.
While on a routine patrol, a Las Vegas police officer noticed a man sitting on the curb on 15th Street that matched the description of a man the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Arson Investigators wanted to talk to about the fire. He was later taken into custody after questioning.
Richard Arlen Jones and his wife got into a domestic dispute which was heard by neighbors. His wife alleges he set some furniture that was stacked outside the front door on fire. The fire quickly grew and four apartment units became involved.
It took firefighters less than five minutes to knock down most of the fire. The balcony and patio areas of all four apartments were destroyed. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
Two people suffered minor injuries.
Jones has been booked in the Clark County Detention Center and is being held on $20,000 bond.
The fire happened at the Cedar Village Apartments.
