GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) -- Douglas County sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting in a domestic dispute at a Gardnerville home.
Deputies say 38-year-old Rainilee Belles was shot in the stomach after an apparent struggle over a handgun in a fight between her husband and her brother about 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
She told deputies that her 35-year-old husband, Benjamin Dupreez, and 38-year-old brother, Travis Belles, had been arguing when the brother produced a handgun to protect himself and his sister.
She says the two struggled over the gun and it discharged, striking her in the abdomen.
The brother also suffered multiple contusions on his head.
Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment. No charges have been filed but the case remains under investigation.
