Event raises awareness about pool risks and dangers
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- As the Las Vegas Valley sees the summer weather approaching, there are a lot of residents who are working to make sure families are safe when diving in pools.
Saturday was the "Safe Pools Rule" event in Henderson.
Volunteers walked the neighborhoods, providing information about drowning, prevention and awareness.
"We'll go to over 800 doors with this 'walk and knock' where we have the ABC and D's of drowning prevention so we can get ahead of one of the most tragic things," said Dan Pentkowski, Henderson Professional Firefighters.
Drowning is a leading cause of unintentional death in Southern Nevada for young children.
An average of eight children die every year.
