UNLV hosting GreenFest Saturday
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Southern Nevada residents can commemorate Earth Day, learn how to live a sustainable lifestyle and bring down your recyclables for free collection at the Festival of Communities and GreenFest Earth Day celebration at UNLV on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both events and parking are free and open to the public.
GreenFest is proud to present the valley's largest and most diverse recycling and repurposing collection in Southern Nevada. Each year the collection, sponsored by Republic Services and Green Alliance, helps our community divert materials from the landfill responsibly and supports local organizations.
Residents are encouraged to bring down their recyclables and used items for free recycling collections anytime between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the Thomas & Mack parking lot located off Swenson Parkway and Tropicana Avenue. The first 250 guests dropping off recyclables will receive a free special gift.
Shred-It Las Vegas will collect documents and computer hard drives for on-site destruction, the Blind Center of Nevada will accept electronics and Republic Services will accept commingled recyclables from your home or office. New to GreenFest this year is a repurpose collection; HELP of Southern Nevada will collect clothing for young children in our community including infant to middle school age clothing, And gently used baby items (no car seats). Project 150 LV will accept gently used clothes and shoes appropriate for teenagers including formal wear for prom, graduation and job interviews, school supplies, and sports equipment.
