New solar panels switch on in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Southern Nevada is using more of a plentiful natural resource to generate electricity.
15,000 solar panels are now online on Vegas Valley Drive near Tree Line.
Las Vegas city officials say the goal is to create sustainability and use our abundant sunshine to produce power.
The panels are expected to provide up to 20 percent of the electrical needs for the nearby water pollution control facility.
The city said the solar project will safe more than $2.5 million a year in energy costs.
