Local authorities train for public attack at local malls
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police officers and firefighters from around the Las Vegas Valley participated in a large training exercise on Wednesday night to help prepare for attacks like the one at the Boston Marathon.
The training took place at two local malls -- Las Vegas Premium Outlets South and Town Square.
Last night's scenario was back-to-back attacks.
During the training exercise, the malls were taken over by officers pretending to be terrorists with guns.
Police officers, Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and local firefighters participated in the training exercise.
Drills such as the one conducted on Wednesday night actually began in 2009 after the attacks in Mumbai, India.
