Gold Spike holds party for longtime customers on closing day
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Gold Spike Hotel & Casino is the latest business property to be scooped up by the Downtown Project. The 37-year-old casino closed its doors on Sunday.
The sale of Gold Spike was announced earlier this week.
The former owners of the casino threw a farewell party for all of their loyal customers.
The beer was flowing, music was played and slot machines were gambled on, but it was a bittersweet party for those that had been going to the casino for years.
"I think it's a good thing because they are improving it. I come downtown all the time, I love the changes. So even though it's very sad when something that's been a part of my is going away, the future's going to be that much brighter," expressed Debbie Hall, longtime customer.
For employees not being kept on staff, the Downtown Project is holding a job fair on Tuesday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. at the Downtown Cocktail Lounge.
