Cooling off bill clears Assembly panel
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- A bill seeking to slow the revolving door of lawmakers turning to lobby their former colleagues has cleared an Assembly panel.
AB77 sponsored by Republican Assemblyman Pat Hickey of Reno was amended and endorsed Thursday by the Assembly Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections. It now goes to the floor.
The measure as amended would require former legislators to sit out one session before returning to the Legislature as a paid lobbyist.
Another provision says it won't apply to existing lawmakers until after their next election.
