Former tech CEO Greg Spierkel joins MGM board
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- MGM Resorts International has elected a former technology company CEO to its board.
The casino giant's board voted Tuesday to elect Greg Spierkel as a director.
Spierkel retired last year as CEO of global technology distributor Ingram Micro Inc. He served as CEO for seven years.
MGM Chief Executive Officer Jim Murren announced the appointment Wednesday. He said Spierkel will add a unique blend of leadership, technology expertise, and experience in Asia.
The 56-year-old Spierkel was born in Canada and obtained his MBA from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
His election is contingent on approval from gambling regulators.
