Southern Highlands house catches fire Monday night
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Firefighters responded to a house fire at about 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 3800 block of Glasgow Green Drive in the Southern Highlands community.
The fire department was called after neighborhood security noticed smoke coming from the home and heard smoke alarms.
Upon arrival, firefighters with the Clark County Fire Department discovered the second floor of a 7,000-square-foot house filled with smoke.
The fire was determined to be burning in concealed floor and wall spaces in, around, and under a second-floor bathroom. It appeared the fire had been smoldering for several hours.
The fire was difficult to extinguish because drywall and flooring had to be removed. It was declared knocked down at 10:44 p.m.
The house was under renovation at the time of the fire and no one was living in it. There were no injuries associated with the fire.
Damage was estimated at $75,000. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
