Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Search and rescue crews were called to a Las Vegas park Sunday afternoon to assist in a rescue.
It happened around 1:15 p.m. at Exploration Park on South Buffalo Drive near Blue Diamond Road.
Las Vegas police told Action News a 55-year-old woman fell 30 feet onto a steep ledge.
The woman fell down one side of the mountain, where there are steep drop-offs and rugged terrain. There is a park on the opposite side.
Action News was on the scene as emergency responders climbed up to the woman and immediately got her on a stretcher.
Metro's helicopter then touched down to pick up the victim and brought her down to the bottom where ambulances were waiting.
One paramedic told Action News the woman is expected to be okay.
However, this incident is an example of how careful people need to be when hiking these types of areas.
Some residents in the area hope more safety measures will soon be put in place, "Maybe more signs. Maybe have more security securing the area better, maybe fences. Because it's so easy. You see children hanging off. It's really kind of scary."
There is a warning sign once you enter the main path up the mountain and there is a warning sign all the way at the top that warns it's dangerous to go off the main area.
